Mad about More Black and White Interiors

I'm sorry I just can't help my self. I just keep coming back to black and white.
First I thought it was the full moon then I thought it was a design client I am working with but then I realised it was just me.
I love black and white.
I'm loving more yin and yang, more north and south, more of that complete contrast of black and white.
As a designer and retailer you are exposed to so many visual delights on a daily basis you never have a enough rooms at home, or even clients to work with to completely express all that is waiting patiently in your mind. I suppose the store is my form of visual expression, a release button for a few of those stories I have to tell, but the store never seems big enough and the stories never sell fast enough to abate my visual appetite. There are a mountain of stories waiting in the queue in my head ready for release. I think when you are a designer your own home is so much harder to do than that of any difficult client.
How do I decide what to do?, which style or colour will be right? will I get bored? what if I think of something better next week? these are the things that run through my head.
What shall it be? French Rustic Industrial, Georgian modern, eclectic vintage, tropical colonial modern, classic European elegant or maybe oriental deco. No the decision is made, it going to be black and white. No I shan't get bored, its a classic, it mixes with any colour, with any season with any year. I am so inspired by black and white my master bedroom will be my next guinea pig on my design agenda. Here are the first of my inspirational photos to go on my story board.
They are by a talented South African Designer I found through Judy at Veranda House.
I feel John Jacob designs are as close to what I personally like in classic semi-formal interiors and these just happen to be in black and white. But this is only a taste of what this very talented man can do.

All photo's are from John Jacob Designs

Stay tuned for more on John Jacob and more on my master bedroom as I nut it all out over the coming weeks.

Warm regards,
Daryl

  1. I'm just about to start renovating and have exactly the thoughts you mentioned running through my head... especially the "will I think of something better next week?"! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your black and white bedroom.
By the way, the green birdcage I purchased as a market prop has been very much admired. Thanks!
